Katie woke up at 6:30am…almost through the night. She has been getting up in the middle of the night as of late so last night was some progress.

My wife went to the consignment sale at the University Mall in Chapel Hill. She got a package of Play Doh and some molds for $1.50 (you can see Katie making balls out of the doh in the photo to the right). She also got a light switch plate for the on/off switch in Katie’s room and a bathing suit as well.

Katie went to the Community Park Rose Garden in Chapel Hill twice…once in the morning and again in the afternoon.

I brought Katie a “special present” this evening when I returned from work…some toy jumping beans that I got at the Dollar Store the other day. They didn’t work as great as I had hoped out of the package so Katie soon lost interest.

This evening Christina, the real estate agent for our old house called and we talked about a strategy for what to fix and what to try to update if the house doesn’t sell in a number of weeks.

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
——————————
1) My wife got Katie some Play Doh and molds at a consignment sale today.

Katie squeaked and cried out for most of the night after I put her to bed. Eventually my wife woke up and took over the monitoring duties of Katie. I awoke in the morning to the sound of laughing and playing and the pitter patter of tiny little feet. Our Katie is back to her normal self again.

2012-01-22 - Sitting Wooden Teddy

I never saw anything like this before. How could a child who was so sick last night feel so good this morning? The strength of being a child I suppose…

My wife went to a consignment sale today so I took to tending to Katie. She was content to watch television and “patch” and play with her wooden teddy bear puzzle for the most part. I did show her how you could join the three pieces of a bear together via her stickers and then sit them down on her chair (see photo to the left).

Katie definitely knows what the remote control is for. She didn’t like daddy watching football this evening so she would try to get ahold of the remote whenever she could. She would rush it to momma (while looking back at me to see my reaction) in hopes that she would change it to Caillou or “anything else”. When my wife gives it back to me Katie will sometimes cry out in frustration. Didn’t really work out like she intended.

I tended to Katie this evening while my wife went to bed. It was hard to put Katie to bed…she is not feeling well again. Every time I put her to bed she cries and cries til I come get her. Eventually I sat her in the bed next to me and she watched “Little Bear” til she nodded off. She has the sniffles this evening so this cold/flu or “whatever” is not done just yet…

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
——————————
1) Katie is feeling much better but still has a bit of the cold/flu or “whatever”.

My wife went to a consignment sale in downtown Cary this morning, so I tended to Katie. She was pretty good actually. I played with her for a bit, then fed her, made sure she didn’t need changing (she didn’t), then put her to bed. She was fussy for a bit, but eventually fell asleep around 11:20am. As my wife pointed out, this is the first time I put her to bed.

2011-02-05 - Wood Puzzle

They didn’t have many toys at the consignment sale so my wife got a lot of baby clothes. One toy that they did have is the wooden puzzle shown in the photo to the left. When you put back one of the wooden blocks it will make the sound of the animal on the picture. For example, put back the frog and you will hear the sound of a frog “gribbetting”…

We had a Skype with my mother this afternoon. We pointed the camera at Katie in the high chair so she could see her eating. My wife commented on how loud Katie is these days…which is true. Not sure why she is so loud now. My wife and I are not that loud.

I went to Trader Joe’s this evening and I see that they do have Goat’s Milk now (although not organic). They were out of it the last time I was there.

My wife and I had fish & chips this evening and Katie had her first taste of fish this evening. She liked it.

My wife and I were commenting on how Katie didn’t like rattles when she was younger. Now she does…she likes to bang on things and make noises and “whatever”.

My wife went to a consignment sale down the street today. It’s my turn to take care of little Katie. She slept til about 8am, at which point I took her out of the crib and played with her. I was reading her a book about farm animals when she came back.

2010-09-25 - Little People Barn

My wife picked up a lot of nice things at the sale. A “little people” barn (see photo to the right) with accessories, a toy guitar (one of the best for little babies I have seen).

Little Katie has been crying at the mere site of my acoustic guitar for a while now. Today I put it in the crib and she actually crawled towards it. I played it and she didn’t cry. Eventually she started to pluck the strings. Not sure what all that crying about the guitar has been about???

I took little Katie out for a stroll this morning. I gave her a leaf and I thought she would rip it to pieces. Instead I had to grab it from her as she put the stem in her mouth.

My wife and I went shopping this afternoon. I stayed in the car with little Katie for the most part while my wife visited various stores. I did take her out to go to the KidToKid consignment store. She was having a great time looking at all the toys and spent some time playing with a couple of girls in the play area.

On the way home from shopping we stopped off at a farmer’s vegetable stand. Little Katie enjoyed looking at the various produce, and the pumpkins (they are out now for Halloween). True to her nature she peeled the yellow price sticker off the pumpkin so I had to put it back on.
