Katie has a birthday party at the ice skating rink this afternoon. Susan offered to take her, which will free up some time for us. Katie asked me if I could skate, and I told her, yes, but it is dangerous giving the condition of my knees. She understood and said that maybe once I get better. Hard to believe that a former ice hockey “addict” cannot even skate anymore…
We were putting Bobby to sleep when Katie left for the ice skating rink and Bobby cried and cried. I told him that I would get him a “special present” and that calmed him down a bit.
I picked up Bobby’s “Special Present” at the Dollar Store in Durham this afternoon. I got four pieces of bristol board, a car for Bobby, a zebra for Katie, and a rawhide bone for Maple (see photo to the right). My wife would not let me give it to Maple as the contents, etc. might be “suspicious”. It is from the Dollar Store after all…
I also took my car to the car wash in Durham. Getting the car ready by taking stuff out of it was hard on my legs. I strained a ligament in my right calf. This tells me what the problem is in regards to my recovery. When the surgeon readjusted my ligaments and such, ones that did work don’t work in the same way and others that were not needed now need to take up the slack. That’s why my legs seem to be sore in the various ligaments that didn’t have problems before. I do find that the exercises I am doing, such as getting up and down in the chair, and leg presses at the gym, are helping out.
Bobby loves to hug his daddy. For the past couple of days he has come up to me on the LazyBoy and given me a big hug and will not let go. We are developing quite the bond, which is good.
