Day #16 (Tue., Jan. 19, 2010) – “Sounds of Nature” Sheep

3:00am – Little Katie is up getting her early breakfast. She let us sleep from around 11pm last night, so we are very happy. We are starting to get better and better burps, so that is good too.

It’s early morning and I’m out in the living room. Little Katie and mommy are sleeping. I hear the crows “cawwwing” in the trees outside and for a moment I thought it was little Katie crying. Funny how all the various sounds you hear sound like your baby when you are a new dad.

A friend stopped by to see the baby this afternoon and brought us some very nice baby gifts. That was so nice of her. I will highlight one of these gifts in this particular post. The picture to the left is of a “Soothing Sounds of Nature” Sheep…one of the great gifts she brought. Little Katie now has a new playmate in her crib. Not only is it cute and cuddly…it “speaks”. It has sounds of: (1) Whales, (2) the Ocean, (3) the Heart, and (4) Rain. It also has a timer so you can set it for 23 or 45 minutes. Let’s see how little Katie takes to her new friend. When she woke up the other morning the squeaks an squawks she was making sounded just like a whale so she might like that mode the most.

Little Katie had her second “stroll” around the neighborhood today, so she is getting out and about and seeing the sights. She started to cry when we first left the house. So much so in fact that we thought we might have to go home and feed her again. The gentle rocking and rolling of the stroller on the pavement seemed to do the trick to calm her down and we had a very nice stroll after all.

My wife said she had the “Rain” mode of the “Soothing Sounds of Nature” Sheep turned on, and it seemed to calm little Katie down. If it works I’ll certainly remember it!
