Day #324 (Tue., Nov. 23, 2010) – Teething Pacifier

I stopped off at Trader Joe’s on the way home from work this evening. We needed supplies for little Katie (and us) as Thanksgiving will soon be here.

I’ve mentioned in previous posts that little Katie is teething and is very fussy from time-to-time. We’ve tried various methods to try and resolve this issue. For example we’ve been putting face cloths in water and putting them in the fridge. Little Katie likes to suck on them…I guess the cold water and “roughish” texture provide some relief. When we went to Harris-Teeter on Friday my wife came across the little item shown in the photo to the left. It’s a teething pacifier. One end has a regular tip as you can find on other pacifiers. The other end however has a long plastic ring. When a baby puts this end in their mouth it will reach the teeth in the back…providing more relief for a “teething baby”. For a few bucks anything is worth a try at this stage.

Little Katie learned to use the “mesh” feeder today. The basic idea is that you put fruit into this popsicle like device with a mesh on it. The mesh will hold the fruit in place while permitting the juices to get through when the baby comps on it. My wife put a big chunk of an apple into it and after they got home from their stroll there were only crumbs left in it.

I was looking at little Katie this evening. It’s amazing how quickly they grow up. She has become much more talkative as of late. She will sit in her high chair and look at me in the Lazy Boy and yell out “ta” or “Schee” or “Bub bub bub”. Hard to believe that she will be almost a year old in a couple of months.
