Dropping off Bobby this morning was no problem, but when I tried to start my Camry this afternoon, the battery was dead. Such was the first “leg” of the drama that was today’s pickup routine…
With the Camry down I drove the van to Glenwood to pick up Bobby. I wanted to get him early so that I could quickly drive to pick Katie up. That was not to be… The electronic board that they use in Bobby’s classroom to show him that I am at a cone and ready to pick him up was not working, so I parked in one of the parking spots while a teacher went to get him. With this “leg” accomplished we were off to pick up Katie.
Since I was later in picking up Katie today we were at the end of the line close to Estes. There were no mishaps in picking her up though. We were then off to the Chapel Hill library to pick up a “Dog Man” book for Bobby (see photo to the right) as one just came in. Katie sat in the van and read. She told me that she got 100% on a theater test.
Bobby’s report came in as well. Here are the teacher highlights:
- Listens attentively and participates productively.
- Demonstrates with prompts.
- Good-natured presence in the class community.
- Tremendous growth in math. Assessment up 26% since the start of the year.
- He is gaining more confidence in Chinese.
When AAA came out to boost the car they said that the battery was dead and I would need to replace it. The plan was to call Lloyd’s Tire up and get an appointment, but I noticed that the car lights did not go out when I open and slammed the driver’s door… Hmmm.. Is this the culprit? I will investigate further.
Bobby took a math test and my wife tells me that his mark is in the 98% of the nation for this test!
Bobby cleaned up the area near the mail box this evening with the shovel. Good exercise for him.
Bobby is still complaining about violin practice. This evening I thought we would try something different, like try to play “Horse With No Name” by America on the violin… Didn’t help much… He still doesn’t like to practice.
