Day #4868 (Fri., May 5, 2023) – Newsies Jr.

I dropped Bobby off at school this morning, and picked him up at the bus top this afternoon.  The bus was late today.  I guess the driver needed to get a new bus at Glenwood as the brakes on the old one were acting up.

Bobby showed me the Pokemon Gold Card that a friend at school gave him (see photo to the right).

On the drive back home Bobby told me that they had peach parfait for lunch today.  In art class they are doing “Stencil Art”, where you create a stencil and use colored chalk on it to transfer an image to paper.

This afternoon I gave the kids a quick tour of Bard and ChatGPT.  We asked them to create us a song about spam with guitar chords in the styles of Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney.  It didn’t get it 100% right.  I told the kids that they call this “Hallucinations.

This evening Katie & Tinsley went to see the play “Newsies Jr.” at the “Art Center” in Carrboro.  Here’s a bit about it:  Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies Jr. follows the story of Jack Kelly and his band of “newsies” as they take on the powerful newspaper tycoons who are exploiting them for profit. With soaring melodies, heart-pumping choreography, and a powerful message about standing up for what’s right, Newsies Jr is a show that will leave you feeling inspired and uplifted.

They walked all the way from Tinsley’s house and stopped off at Panera Bread for dinner.  Katie had a grilled cheese and Tinsley had a tuna sandwich.  I picked Katie up at the Art Center after 9pm this evening when the play was over and drove her home.  Tinsley’s mom picked Tinsley up.
