Bobby’s home recovering today. Katie went to school. I picked her up at Vanier at 3:10 pm and we went out for Daddy/Daughter Day #156. She opted for Starbucks and got a sandwich, a drink, and a cake pop (see photo to the left). I was going to purchase her an extra treat at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company, but low and behold, it closed at 5 pm! On a Friday! Don’t you just love these extended Comox Valley shopping hours!
I was feeling bad for Bobby being sick again so I opted to pick him up McDonalds on the way back. He chose, “Surprise Surprise”, the two cheeseburger extra value meal. I also bought him an Oreo McFlurry, which he loves.
His mother made an appointment this evening for him at Urgent Care. They prescribed him some antibiotics. I took a nap and when I awoke at 9:30 pm there was a message from my wife that a prescription was a Courtenay Pharmacy on 8th street, so I rushed over to get it before it closed at 10 pm. This reminded me of going to the Walgreens near Southpoint Mall in Durham on Christmas Day one year to get Katie’s meds. When I got home my wife met me in the driveway and rushed to give Bobby his meds as he was eager to get to bed. He took his meds and was “Out Like A Light” as they say.
I did a bit more investigation into purchasing baby chicks. I called up Shar-Kare and they said that there could be problems introducing baby chicks to the rooster and hen that we already have. The rooster might not accept them, and if he doesn’t, his suggestion was to kill it as roosters are a dime a dozen. Well, I couldn’t stomach the thought of that, so we’ll go back to the original plan, to wait until our current rooster and hen go off to that happy grazing area in the sky before looking to get any more. The lady who owned our house said that they are five this summer, so that means roughly three more years before we can explore this idea again.
