Day #5598 – (Sun., May 4, 2025) – Chess & Parfait!
I had Daddy/Son Chat Day #18 with Bobby today. I invited him over to the “Barn Suite” where we played a bit of chess. I had a parfait from Thrifty Foods ready for him (see photo to the right)! I also had some fruit punch cartons and I made him some McCain’s “Quick Fries” in the air fryer.
We started off by playing chess. I beat him in the first game and then we had a bit of a “mock” game where I showed him the moves I was making and the strategy behind them. He soon lost interest and we went to watch “Invincible” (about a father/son superhero duo) via Amazon Prime on the television in the “Barn Suite” living room. This is when I made and gave him the fries I made in the air fryer. I asked him if they were like McDonalds and he said that they probably would be if there was a bit of salt on them. Well, I happened to have a couple of salt packets kicking around from an old A&W visit so problem solved. He loved them.
After watching a bit of “Invincible” I showed Bobby one of the Spiderman cartoons I watched back in the late 60s courtesy of YouTube. It was the “Horn of the Rhino” episode. We talked about about Toby McGuire and the various people who played Spiderman in the movies. We then watched a bit of the new 2025 Spiderman cartoon series. When I asked Bobby if he wanted to play some pool, we were off.
Once we played one game of “8 Ball” I texted my wife and daughter to see if they wanted to join us and all four of us played some pool. Bobby soon wanted to leave to play with Ethan, who could only play till 4 pm today.
Bobby did find time to manage the front lawn later this afternoon. It took him about 15 minutes.
Katie has a new “cat toy” for Batman. It’s basically a little toy mat that makes a squishy sound when you grab or roll on it. There is no catnip in it, so Batman must really like the sound. He was playing with it this afternoon.
