Bobby’s class participated in the “Track & Field Jamboree” at the fields by Vanier High School this afternoon (see photo to the left)! It’s district wide, and grades 4-7 participated. My wife picked up Katie early from school and they went to see him.
When the meet was over they took the kids back to their respective schools. I picked Bobby up at Huband at the usual time, 2:30 pm. He told me that he participated in the running, relay race, and ball throwing at the meet. We talked about the “high jump” and agreed that we both didn’t care for it. We then talked about “Pole Vaulting” and how challenging that must be. By that time we were home! I gave him a freshly laid egg from our solitary hen to take in to his mom. Katie wanted to be picked up early from school today so no need to pick her up at 3:10 pm.
My wife had a great idea this evening… Approach her friend Kristina to see if she would agree to be a “guardian” to the kids if something should happen to both of us. Kristina has known my wife since they were school girls together, and has even met her mother. She has been a Canadian citizen for 4-5 years.
I was talking to our neighbor Gail this afternoon. She was telling me that Robert and her are from Vancouver area originally. They moved here because of his parents. We got talking about what it was like when the Beatles came to Vancouver in the early/mid 60s. A bit of sad news… I learned her daughter died in a car accident in 1998.
We got a $127 reward from Costco! We also received a $110 check from our car insurance company for our Toyota. Not sure why. Perhaps because it’s battery operated or a safer car?
