Day #5696 – (Sun., Aug. 10, 2025) – Victoria Carriage Tour!

This morning Katie and I decided to venture out and look for a coffee shop. Bobby wanted to stay at home, and since he had his iPad and two boxes of cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios & Frosted Flakes, we knew that he would be fine. So it’s Daddy/Daughter Day #161 today!

We drove over to UVic with the intention that there would be students at a nearby coffee shop and we could check out the vibe and perhaps get a feel of what student life at UVic was like. Unfortunately most students were away for the summer and a lot of the campus coffee shops were closed. There were a few foreign summer school students there to learn English, and the cafeteria was serving breakfast, but it was not the vibe we wanted so we ventured on. A biology professor was driving a perhaps potential student to the Student Union Building and he gave us some helpful information like where to park and what student life was like.

The next stop was to the nearby Moka House for a coffee. We then ended up touring some of the rich houses near the coast and saw a cute little lemonade stand right out of a cartoon.

When we eventually arrived home Bobby was hungry so I made him a PB&J sandwich with some “ants on a stick” and a glass of milk.

Later on in the afternoon we decided that we would do an activity. Katie has been mentioning the desire to go on a carriage ride again, so we did that (see photo to the right). A 45-minute tour of Victoria by horse & buggy, pretty well the exact same tour that we took a couple of years ago during our first trip to Victoria.

The kids were getting hungry by this point and Bobby was raving about trying the “Local Pizza” here in Victoria. I searched for it on the map, and it was near where Kristina’s house was, so off we went. When we got there it was a “Local Pizza” already, but Romero’s Place Pizza. It was extremely busy, with quite the wait, so we decided to go to Little Caesar’s Pizza and get a couple of pies to go. A large pineapple pizza for Bobby and a medium cheese pizza for Katie. They loved them both!

Later on in the evening we did a Facetime with my wife to tell her about the events of the day.
