The kids wanted to stay at home and relax this morning, so my day started with a quick trip to the Parsonage Café down the road on Cook Street. Around 11:55 a.m., I sat down with an Americano and almond milk, watching people come and go.
I drove the kids up north near the airport to meet Kristina’s son outside the BC Aviation Museum. One of their tour guides took us to see the work that they are doing on the “Avro Lancaster Bomber”, a pet restoration project of theirs. We also got to go inside and tour around the “Mars Hawaii”, a water bomber that they used up till recently in putting out forest fires. Bobby really enjoyed trying out their various flight simulators.
After the museum, we went across the street to Mary’s Blue Moon Café. Katie and Bobby each had a junior burger, Kristina’s son had a shrimp dish, and I had coconut beet soup with a salad. I also picked up a large plate of nachos for the table to enjoy, and plenty of apple juice for the kids.
Next up was the Victoria Flying Club. The original plane we booked had a potential issue, so we waited for another one to become available. While we waited the kids and I played a bit of pool in the lounge and a couple of games of “What Animal Am I” as well.

Katie, who originally wasn’t going to go, decided to join Bobby on the flight. I filmed them taking off and landing, and Katie took photos during the flight. They flew over Victoria (see photo to the right) and experienced some turbulence near the mountains, but the Gravol I gave them helped, and neither got sick. Katie said that her stomach dropped once they experienced the turbulence over the mountains. They both enjoyed the experience and were happy to cross it off their bucket list.
By then it was night so we dropped Kristina’s son off at his place and headed for home. We were all very tired when we got back to Kristina’s apartment and “hit the hay” soon after!
