My wife took Bobby to an ortho appointment this afternoon. She picked him up at 1:30 pm from Huband, so I picked Katie up at 3:10 from Vanier.
Bobby’s dentist referred him a month ago to an orthodontist because of two missing premolars. We had an appointment booked for November, but they had a cancellation today, so my wife took him to Shoreline Ortho.

The verdict? He needs to have 4 baby and 2 permanent teeth pulled! (see photo to the right). If we are lucky his regular dentist can do this, but if the permanent ones are too difficult, Bobby will need to see an oral surgeon!
The advantage of getting rid of these teeth at Bobby’s age is that this will give more space for other teeth and at age 12 he will get braces to finish everything off.
It’s great that we have that CAA insurance now, which covers dental! Ortho is potentially covered at 50% up to $2000, so we at least save $2000!
After picking up Katie from school we went for a drive and had Daddy/Daughter Chat #38. We ended up at Starbucks where Katie tried out a new item, their “Mini Everything Bagels”! She said that they were delish!
Katie almost flunked a practice test in math today, so she brought the practice test home. This, and the drama of high school is getting to her, so I asked her if she would do one thing for me. I told her that I never ask her for anything, but I would really like her to do this. What? Try to find one thing new and joyful to do each day, and then write about it. It’s really more for her than me, but if giving me something will help motivate her, I’m all for that!
She told me that she did do this one thing today! I replied to her text with: “WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!! So proud of you!!!!!!!! When you look back at your life and realize how the vast majority of those things you worried about meant nothing, and never materialized, and you fret about the time you wasted worrying, these little daily moments of joy that really did happen, and you are documenting, will have such an impact and mean so much!!!! Trust me!!!!! This is one of the things I really wished I had done when I was younger!!!!!! Like I said, I don’t fault you for worrying, we all do it. It can seem more all encompassing when we are young and don’t have the backdrop to frame it in…. You are working it all out, you are meeting people and dealing with daily this and that’s. You will work it out, in your time frame, and for your overall good, and everything will work out…. Daddy”s advice? Do your best, don’t fret, and find one simple joy each day … 🙂“.
Oh, and in world news today, Charlie Kirk, the powerful rightwing activist, Trump ally, and executive director of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), has died after being shot in the neck on Wednesday while speaking at a university campus event in Utah.
In additional world news, Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle, made $101 billion today!!!!! He is now the richest man in the world, displacing Elon Musk! That equates to about $10 billion per hour if you equate this to a 10 hour work day. That’s $10,000,000,000 per hour!
