Day #5736 – (Fri., Sep. 19, 2025) – Trampoline Up!

The trampoline arrived in a big cardboard box this morning! Bobby saw it before he left for school this morning so it was a mad rush to get it set up before school was over. The result? Mission accomplished (see photo to the right)! Both kids enjoyed jumping on it. We got it primarily for Bobby with the thought that Katie might enjoy it too, and she said “I can so see myself doing homework or listening to music on it”!

My wife sent an email to Mrs. Nelson, Bobby’s teacher last year, asking for a bit of advice: “Bobby had a bit of a situation yesterday and we thought maybe we can ask you for a friendly advice. We would rather not escalate or go the formal way – at least not yet, but are not sure if it’s helpful to just let it slide. Before the school started, three boys (Decklyn (spelling?) and two more) from Ms. Von Niessen’s class were trying to unlock Bobby’s electric bike and shove sticks into the keyhole. Bowen saw them and asked them to leave the bike alone and they moved onto other bikes. Damage to Bobby’s bike is minimal, but maybe they don’t understand that they are not supposed to touch other people’s property without permission? What would you recommend us do?“.

Bobby went over to Enzo’s house after school today. Esca was there too. Enzo is another one of his classmates and one year on one of the greatest benefits of moving here to Courtenay is Bobby’s circle of friends. It is much more carefree and family-oriented here and he has so many more friends here than he did in Chapel Hill. We’re not sure what Enzo’s dad does for a living, but it certainly seems to provide an ample income. They live on a huge property with three houses, a Tesla, trampoline, pool, golf cart, go kart, etc. etc. Bobby said that Enzo’s sister is 17 years old so she might be going to Vanier with Katie.

As I was out and about this evening the order came for groceries for the fam. Katie wants some “Nerds Gummy Clusters” and my wife wants tortillas. I stopped off at Thrifty Foods for these items and also picked up a couple of those parfaits that the kids like so much.

I was looking a bit more at the Bachelor of Business Marketing Degree that is offered by North Island College. I think it used to be only two years, but it’s a full four year degree now! It touches all the major principles of business including entrepreneurship! It also touches on online shop sales and finance! In addition, you can spend a semester in France if you want to gain international business exposure! Not only that, it’s a co-op program so they will find you a job and you get credit for it and pay tuition off at the same time! All for only $18,000!!!! If I was younger I would certainly be considering it… Maybe for Katie one day? Even now I wouldn’t mind auditing it…
