Day #5737 – (Sat., Sep. 20, 2025) – Valentine Meets “The Ladies”!

We drove to Hatchmere Farms (across the street from the Air B&B we stayed at when we first came to Courtenay) to pick up four hens (see photo to the right) to keep Valentine company. Two of one breed and two of another. They also breed golden retrievers and one of their service dogs, Molly, was such a lovely dog! She loved to be petted and only a bone that she found took her attention away from us.

At 5 pm I drove Bobby out to the hairdresser who lives a couple of doors down from Esca so we could both get haircuts. My wife brought Katie as we were finishing up. Bobby didn’t like his haircut much, so I took him to McDonalds for a “2 Cheeseburger Extra Value Meal” to cheer him up. We talked about his haircut and I suggested he find a good picture of a haircut he wants online and I will use AI to put it on a picture of him… We can print it out and he just needs to show it to the hairdresser and say “I want this”… Problem solved! Hopefully… This morphed into Daddy/Son Chat #23.

We were a bit worried about how the hens would react to Valentine, and Valentine to the hens, but as of tonight there doesn’t seem to be any major problems. They all lined up at the coop entrance to go inside for the night. Valentine jumped up onto one of the roosts to avoid them… 🙂
