Today is our last day in Oyster Bay. My son and I will be driving back to Courtenay to have Thanksgiving Dinner with “The Fam”. We were both up early, and to the buffet at 6:30 am. Bobby ate more today than he did yesterday. We were eagerly anticipating the pool opening at 7 am so that we could beat the crowd! Alas, when we arrived there was a sign on the door. It will open at 8 am today for maintenance. We can’t seem to catch a break with this pool on this trip!

So, my son and I went back to the hotel room to chill for a bit, but did end up back there at 8 am. We were hoping for an empty pool, but there were a number of families this morning. Not a First Nations swimmer or hockey player in sight! Realizing that this would be our last opportunity to enjoy the water, we stuck around and enjoyed the jacuzzi first, then the pool (see photo to the right). For some reason Bobby didn’t want to go down the water slide this morning.
Next up was packing, which was relatively easy as Bobby and I didn’t pack much. To make things even easier we brought one of the trolleys from the lobby area. After a quick packing we were off. Bobby asked me to talk to him so the he wouldn’t get car sick. I said that he should let me know if he was feeling ill and I would pull the car over. He said not to worry as the seats had seat covers on them. I reminded him that seat covers were not made to protect the seats from vomit!
We arrived home in Courtenay in early afternoon. We didn’t stop the car once and just sailed on through. I was so exhausted that I went and had a nap. Bobby played a bit with Ethan, and even helped his mother make mashed potatoes for tonight’s meal. Katie helped make the gravy and stuffing and helped set up the table as well. We enjoyed a nice turkey dinner and I had some pumpkin pie for dessert as well!
