Bobby wanted to carve a pumpkin today so Katie and I went out looking for one. We also needed some carving tools, so we were on the lookout for those as well. We do have carving tools, as we carved a pumpkin last year, but they are just “somewhere”.
First up was a trip to Walmart. We stopped off at a little iPhone repair station on the way to pick up my wife’s iPhone.
I’m not sure why, but pumpkin carving tools, and even pumpkins, were nowhere to be seen at Walmart. There were Halloween costumes, and decorations, and candy, but just not what we came for. You would think on the weekend before Halloween they would be near the front of the store as impulse items!
Next up was Dollarama down the street where we picked up a pumpkin scoop and a carving knife. Not the best carving knife, as these dollar store items tend to be, but doable. My wife ordered some more “heavy duty” tools but they will not be here in time for Halloween.
Next up was the Superstore where we picked up a pumpkin (see photo to the right).
Back at home Bobby brought his collection of jack knives downstairs and they had a great serrated blade perfect for pumpkin carving. Now that both Katie and Bobby have a pumpkin to carve, they got at it right away. Bobby was planning on carving “Freddie Kruger”, but didn’t finish by the time evening came.
It snowed on Mount Washington today!
