Day #5783 – (Wed., Nov. 5, 2025) – Ann Taylor Suit

Katie had a flex day today so my wife and her went shopping for the day. Tomorrow is “Local Pizza” for lunch at Huband but Bobby took a home lunch turkey sandwich to school today.

Katie will be going away in a little over a week for her Interact Club weekend event. Soulina will be joining her. She needs a new suit and we were able to find one via Ann Taylor and have it shipped from the US (see photo to the right). As you can tell, it needs to be taken in.

As you may recall from a previous post, Bobby was practicing his casting and got the line pretty tangled up. Rather than watch videos and spend time figuring it out myself I decided to take it into the experts, so I packed up the rod and took it to “Gone Fishin'”, the store in Courtenay that I bought it from. According to Bobby he got the line stuck in a tree, and from reverse engineering the line it looks like he tried to solve the issue and made it much worse. The line was pretty coiled and backed up inside the reel when the guy took it apart. He ended up having to cut a lot of the line as it was unsalvageable. In addition, it looks like the tip of the rod was damaged, perhaps by hitting the side of a tree or barn with it, so that had to be repaired. Cost only $7.50 and a valuable lesson for Bobby to learn from on our next fishing outing (hopefully this weekend if the weather behaves). LESSON: If something messes up, don’t proceed until you are sure you have the solution in hand or you will probably make it much worse. A lesson I had to learn back in my camera repair days.
