Day #5834 – (Fri., Dec. 26, 2025) – Boxing Day!

It’s Boxing Day today! Boxing Day in Canada, observed every year on December 26, is a federal holiday rooted in British tradition but now best known for massive post‑Christmas sales and lively winter activities. Historically tied to the practice of giving “Christmas boxes” of gifts or charity to workers and the poor, the day has evolved into a blend of shopping, family time, and sports. Many Canadians take Boxing Day off to browse early‑morning store openings or enjoy extended “Boxing Week” discounts, while others settle in to watch major hockey events like the World Junior Championships.

Although it’s a federal holiday, its legal status varies by province—some regions treat it as a paid day off, others as a retail‑closing day, and some don’t recognize it as a statutory holiday at all.

Katie wanted to go out to the White Spot Restaurant to eat today, but she slept in till 1 pm today. We thought that she was getting sick, so we decided not to go. As it turns out, she had an allergic reaction to some body care and my wife gave her Zyrtec. That’s why she was so tired.
