Day #5841 – (Fri., Jan. 2, 2026) – Bulk Barn Candies

Later in the afternoon, my leg felt a little better. Not great—just better enough that I could take my son and daughter out for a drive. We went down to the Goose Spit and back. Nothing ambitious. Just movement, scenery, being together. We stopped at McDonald’s on the way back. My son decided on fries and an ice cream cone (via free coupon). My daughter got a lemonade and I had a black coffee. The normalcy of it all felt grounding.

After dropping my son off at home, my daughter and I went out again—another short drive. She talked. Not dramatically. Just honestly. She wishes she could be like other people. I told her that I understood, and that being different was her “Super Power”…she just didn’t realize it yet.

After dropping my daughter off I went to the Bulk Barn to pick up some candies for Katie’s upcoming birthday party on Sunday (see photo to the right). While we were out driving this afternoon I asked her what she liked about this year’s Advent Calendar. When she mentioned the various candies that she liked, the light bulb went on!

For her birthday on Sunday Katie wants to go to the White Spot Restaurant and bowling as well. This evening she said that she wants an ice cream cake, so I plan to pick one up at Dairy Queen like I did last year.
