Day #5859 – (Tue., Jan. 20, 2026) – Dr. Matthew Lawley

Katie went to school today but Bobby stayed home.

Katie really doesn’t want to take guitar again next semester so the hunt is on for a different “arts” elective. We’re not sure if they will let her change it at this late date.

My wife, Bobby, and I, met our new doctor Dr. Matthew Lawley this afternoon at the Courtenay Medical Clinic (see photo to the left). It was basically a “meet and greet” and get acquainted with our medical history. We did however talk about Bobby’s screen time and the fact that he gets stomach aches quite a bit. He suggested that we keep a log of his screen time to see how many hours per day he is spending online, and he’s going to get some tests done to see about Bobby’s stomach ache problem.

I went to B.D. Mitchell Prosthetic after the doctor’s appointment. They have a waitlist and nobody will even see me till mid-February. It looks like the knee brace for my MCL will be custom fit, and they will need to send it away, so it will be about mid-March before I actually get the brace on. It also looks like the price of the brace is $1000+, but we’re hopeful that our new medical insurance will cover the cost of this. In the meantime I’m going to try and see if a local medical supply company will have some sort of a “temporary” brace that I can use.
