Morticia, one of our hens, is 1 years old, and was in the nesting area this morning (see photo to the left). She laid eggs before, but for the previous owner, not for us. She is a “Black Copper Maran” mix and her eggs should be very dark brown, almost chocolaty. By the end of the day no eggs so we will have to watch her to see that the egg doesn’t get stuck. If it does get stuck the hen will die in two days.

Everyone in the “Main House” is sick, so I thought I would do a “Remote Order Run” for food. It started off at Katie’s request for a drink, but ended up as a medium caramel frappuccino and birthday cake pop for her at Starbucks. I thought I would surprise Bobby with a treat as well so I picked up a $5 McDouble Value Meal for him and a regular Oreo McFlurry. I called Bobby up on Alexa later in the day and we discussed this surprise meal and the note I attached to the fries (see photo to the right), so can we call this Daddy/Son Day #102? Oh, and Katie decided that she wanted an Oreo McFlurry as well.
Katie’s teachers sent us evals of Katie today. They said:
Katie is a very quiet, hard-working student who consistently approaches her learning with care and dedication. She is a kind and knowledgeable student, and I would love to see her take on more of a leadership role in the class, as her ideas and strengths would greatly benefit her peers. This term, we focused on narrating stories both orally and in writing, using a wide range of vocabulary and accurate sentence structures to communicate effectively in past, present, and future time frames. Katie is working at an extending level, as shown through class discussions and learning activities. She consistently and confidently communicates ideas using a variety of verb tenses with accuracy and control. I encourage Katie to continue extending her language skills by listening to French music, watching French films, and engaging with age-appropriate French social media to further develop fluency and colloquial understanding. I hope to see you in French 11, Katie!
• Katie exhibits an excellent understanding of linear relations and functions, demonstrating strong ability to analyze and interpret their properties.
• She solves linear equations with precision and confidently represent solutions through accurate and well-constructed graphs.
• Katie consistently applies graphing, elimination, and substitution methods effectively to solve systems of equations with accuracy.
• Her strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail reflect a deep comprehension of the material.
• Katie actively engages in class discussions and demonstrates a high level of mathematical reasoning and critical thinking.
Katie made excellent progress in English this term. She strengthened her essay writing skills through effective planning and organization, and her final essay on Theories of Relativity featured a clear thesis and well-structured paragraphs. In class, she demonstrated the ability to access information from a variety of sources, think critically about ideas within and beyond the text, and make connections to current events. Katie also improved her use of correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation and can confidently edit her own work. Her consistent effort and thoughtful approach to learning are commendable. I have enjoyed teaching Katie and wish her success next semester.
