Day #5937 – (Wed., Apr. 8, 2026) – Shopper’s Earrings!

Bobby is home sick today but Katie went to school, but she skipped this mornings classes. I took her to Vanier at 12:25 pm today.

My wife had an optometrist appointment at 12:05, the appliances guy came in the morning, and my wife had a work meeting at 2 pm. Regarding the optometrist, she had an abrasion on her eye so she stopped off at the pharmacy near Home Depot on the way home.

I picked up Katie at 3:10 pm this afternoon but didn’t need to take to her viola group class this afternoon. She didn’t want to go since Bobby wasn’t going.

What’s up with our hens? My wife went to let them out of the coop this afternoon and they were already roosting!

My wife took Bobby to Urgent Care this evening and as it turns out he has a “Staph Infection”. Maple is the cause I suspect… 🙂 Nonetheless, I had to go to Shoppers in Courtenay this evening to pick up a prescription for him. Katie came along and I bought her a couple of pairs of earrings (see photo to the left).

On the way home we stopped off at Cotton Road as I wanted to show Katie a couple of the houses there. They still have their Christmas lights up!!! We both iterated what a better deal we got on our current house and are glad that we live here.

We got a letter from Bobby’s teacher’s this evening:

Good evening,

I hope you are doing well. I was so sorry to see that Bobby was feeling unwell and away today, and I wanted to check in.

As we discussed via email last term, and as noted on Bobby’s most recent report card, we are reaching out this term to arrange a meeting. Due to the number of absences Bobby has had, we will be referring him to our School‑Based Team.

The purpose of involving the School‑Based Team is to have a supportive, collaborative conversation about how we can best support Bobby and your family at this time. This is a routine, support‑focused process, and our goal is to work together to look at what supports may be helpful moving forward. You are very welcome to join us for this meeting, and your input will be an important part of the conversation.

We will be in touch soon to set up a meeting time. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions in the meantime.

Kind regards,
Susan

My wife sent the following reply:

Hi Ms. Hudson!

Thank you so much for your concern. Unfortunately, it would be very difficult for us to arrange a meeting at this point.

I just started a new job in Cowichan and have no vacation time at all. My husband would be happy to meet if his health allows; however, he is still battling complications from the last virus kids brought home. You might have noticed a rash on Bobby’s face yesterday. We’ve just found out today it’s a staph infection. Bobby started oral antibiotics, so we hope they will work. He also had a very rough post-surgery recovery and is feeling better now, but I don’t think he can take any more stress or interrogations. So, if possible, we would ask if you could not stress Bobby out. We haven’t told him that in a week all his grades changed to ‘developing’ just because he was sick.

We understand that you need to follow district guidelines and don’t want to delay the meeting. It does not seem like we will be able to attend a meeting with this current situation, so we are fine with you meeting without us. We just ask that you keep us posted.

Thank you again,
