Today is the day of the big “Jax Surprise Party”! Katie wanted to spend some extra time with him, so he agreed to meet her at Starbucks for a coffee in the morning. So, I drove her to the Starbucks outside the Driftwood Mall for their 9:30 meeting. After dropping her off I went to “A Step Above”, which is the coffee shop above Quality Foods, for a coffee, then back at noon to pick her up and take her home. He was supposed to go to Campbell River to say goodbye to some other friends, but that got pushed till later today, so Katie could spend some more time with him.
Jax’s friends are planning a surprise birthday party for him later today. The plan is to meet at Goose Spit, but it looks like rain (and it was rain as you can tell by the photo to the right), so it should be an interesting surprise party. Oh, and if you look close enough, there is no roof on top of the little structure that they are planning on meeting at. Fun, fun, fun! I hope everyone brings umbrellas. I wonder if the person organizing this has/had a backup plan? I mentioned to Katie that Benino’s has a nice large table in the middle of their ice cream parlor and they could always go there to hang out… Let’s see what happens.
Oh, and before dropping Katie off close to 4 pm at Goose Spit, we swung by Panago’s Pizza in Courtenay for two pizzas. Someone else ordered them and Katie picked them up and drove them to Goose Spit.
We got a text at 5:20 pm that Katie was going over to their friend Ruby’s house with the rest of the gang, so at least they survived the rain at Goose Spit!
