I went to WholeFoods and Trader Joe’s for supplies this morning. I got some Halloween lollipops for Katie at WholeFoods and Halloween stickers for Katie at TJ’s.
My wife was tired and went to bed this afternoon while I took care of Katie. We started off watching various Halloween cartoons. It was then time to paint some pictures (Gabby The Pink Parrot is in the photo to the left) and decorate the house. Next up was putting elastics on daddy’s hair…and when that proved too difficult due to the lack of hair, on the toy animals. After about two hours my wife woke up and it was daddy’s turn for a nap.
As usual, it was a real challenge to get Katie to go to bed. Here’s the nighttime process:
1) Mention to Katie that it is time for bed.
2) While she is crying and screaming put on her diaper and pj’s.
3) Set the timer for 5 or 3 minutes while she plays. (You may need to repeat this step multiple times).
4) Katie will ask for a bedtime story (when this is done she will ask for 1 or 2 more).
5) Katie will say she wants to watch Scooby-Doo.
6) Katie will say she is hungry.
7) Either give in to Katie’s demands or put her to bed and deal with the crying.
Eventually she will be sleeping…
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
——————–
1) There is a ritual that happens each evening when we try to put Katie to bed.
