Maple loves to sleep next to the door in Katie’s room. Her tail will stick out of the door into the hallway (see photo to the right).
Hurricane Florence is approaching the Carolina coast and is projected to be a direct hit on Wilmington. If that wasn’t bad enough, it’s going to be a #4 level Hurricane that will churn up through Raleigh and sit over us for days. Given this forecast, it’s time to get out. Can you imagine Katie down in the basement in the dark with water coming into the house for days due to a tree falling on the roof? How about trying to keep Bobby entertained while cooped up for that long? Time to get out of Dodge…
We were originally going to stay at Newport, which is outside Gatlinberg, but it is supposedly a very dangerous place, so we decided to go a bit past Knoxville and stay at a real safe place…Loudon. The La Quinta there has a pool and will accept dogs, a requirement now that we have Maple.
We were thinking of leaving after Bobby’s school let’s out tomorrow, but we are going to pack up and leave a bit earlier at 9 am.
