I took Katie to Spence’s Farm this morning so that she could complete another “make up” day for the equestrian camp. She told me that the reason she really didn’t like going to the previous camp a couple of weeks ago was because of the people. I guess the teenagers in the group were chasing the chickens at one point. She got to ride “Spring” today, so it was a good day.
Bobby decided that he would make himself a parfait this morning (see photo to the right). He thought he was done but when I suggested some whip cream and sprinkles he was all over that as well.
I took Bobby outside today to see if we could try out the orienteering trick that an Aussie guy on the “Field Days” YouTube channel suggested. Put a stick into the ground and a stone as the end of where the sun cast’s it’s shadow. Come back in about half an hour and put another stone on where the sun cast’s it’s shadow. A stick going from stone one to stone two will tell you west to east. and another stick at 90 degrees will tell you north and south. I don’t think it worked as we intended as there was some confusion. We’ll have to revisit this in the future…
Katie showed me what she has done with her novel so far. I offered some suggestions, and we got Bard to offer some suggestions. In the end we watched a Stephanie Meyer video on YouTube and she explained how she came up with the idea for her book “Twilight”. This sparked some idea in Katie and she was off to develop her new idea.
Bobby and I talked a bit about martial arts class this evening. This lead us to watching a video on how kids at the Shaolin Temple in China learn Kung Fu. What a “brutal” regimen they have to go through.
