Day #5241 – (Sun., May 12, 2024) – Last NC Mother’s Day

It’s Mother’s Day today but we are too busy getting ready for the move to Courtenay to do much celebrating. We do have a $200 coupon for a local restaurant that Jeanette, my wife’s former boss, gave her, so we will be going out to eat as a family later on in the week.

Arnesa and Dzenen’s mom came over to our place this morning so I got a chance to say goodbye before we “hit the road”. They were taking some plants from our front yard to plant at Arnesa’s school.

The photo to the right shows the toy polar bear figurine that her old babysitter Margaret gave her. She wasn’t interested in taking it to Courtenay, but I was… A little wash and it will be good to go!

Bobby went to the pool with Ethan today. He was able to pass the swimming test by swimming the whole length of the pool, which means that he could go into the deep end. They were there for hours and it was into the tub to wash the chlorine off once he got home. My wife and Katie took some junk to the dump when he was ready to get out, and it was hard to find clothes for him to put on as a lot of our stuff is in the truck to Courtenay. He didn’t seem too thrilled when I suggested one of Katie’s dresses.

This afternoon I figured out what toiletries I needed to take on our trip to Courtenay, and what could stay. I also smashed up a lot of the ole’ hard drives I had lying around. Hopefully nothing too sensitive on them, but I did have some tax return stuff and you never know if any random file has your SSN#, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

This evening I was out and about and accidentally threw out one of my ear buds when I was cleaning trash out of the car. I ordered some new “Carolina Blue” ones (as per Katie’s suggestion of color), that will arrive early tomorrow morning, as Amazon had such a great sale on them. Having said that, I knew exactly where I threw out the trash, so I went back to the BP Station up the road and sure enough, there was the air bud, in to the top of the bag I threw out. As a side note, there were also a lot of lottery tickets that someone had thrown out. I thought “The Universe” might be sending me an omen, so I picked them up and checked the numbers. Rats! No Winners! Oh well, better luck next time… 🙂
