Day #5641 – (Mon., June 16, 2025) – Meningococcal Vaccine!

Both kids went to school today. My wife picked Bobby up and they want to get a COVID shot, so I picked up Katie at 3:10 pm and we went for a drive.

Katie was hungry so we ended up at the McDonald’s on Guthrie Road. Funny, this McDonalds is not as good as the one on Ryan Road, and the Ryan Road Tim Hortons is not as good as the one next to this McDonalds! The person at the drive thru window couldn’t seem to get our order right so I asked that we start over again… Katie got a cheeseburger, which seemed to fall apart? Not like any other McDonald’s cheeseburger I have ever seen before.

I put the chickens in this evening and the rooster decided to sleep in the nesting area where the hen used to lay eggs (see photo to the left). He’s been acting very strange, off and on, since the hawk or eagle or “whatever” plucked all his tail feathers out. For some reason the hen has stopped laying eggs!

Bobby was very tired after his COVID shot and fell asleep at 8:40 pm. He might not be going to school tomorrow. They went to Comox Valley Public Health Unit. Apparently that’s where you take babies for vaccinations. They also send nurses out to schools in kindergarten, grade 6 and grade 9 to vaccinate kids. He also got a meningococcal vaccine 💉 since they haven’t gotten it in the US.

Katie is having a hard time realizing how special she is. She realizes that she is different, but I’m trying to reinforce in her that she is not only different, but special. That is her “Super Power”. What other 15 year old is trying to help save the planet and do good things? A few, but not many. Most are picking out what iPhone case they want or trying to figure out how to get that new boyfriend.

Katie has still not opened up her CriCut System. She told me that she is just too busy to focus on it. I told her no problem, that she would get to it when she has time. I just wanted to make sure that it was what she wanted as you can always return it and get a different one via the Amazon return policy.
