Day #5714 – (Thu., Aug. 28, 2025) – Benino’s Italian Cafe & Gelato

I took the family to Benino’s Italian Cafe & Gelato for some gelato this afternoon. It’s the closest thing around town to Panera Bread. I go there sometimes for an Americano with almond milk, but have never had their gelato. It had a very open architecture with large windows and a high ceiling. There are nice large tables and comfortable benches and chairs if you want to relax a bit. This afternoon we saw some people with their laptops working. Just the vibe that Panera Bread in the US gives off. Come to think of it, I don’t think that there is another place around town that has this same vibe… Shame…

My wife and Katie and Bobby all enjoyed a gelato. My wife and Katie had theirs in a cup (see photo to the left), but Bobby opted for two scoops in a waffle cone. We discussed the pros and cons of each. With a waffle cone you get that nice crunch, but with a cup or bowl, you don’t have to worry about eating too slow and having it drip all over you.

They have a nice retro pinball machine in the corner behind this sliding “barn door” (see photo to the right). The kids enjoyed playing a version of Pac Man on it. When the door is closed often times people will slide it back thinking it’s to the washroom… 🙂 Surprise! It’s a video game!

With the new cord in the Ryobi “Weed Wacker” I tackled the long grass behind the “Barn Suite”. I made one pass today, but will let it rest and die off a bit, then make another pass later in the week.

I made some “Carrot Soup” in the Instant Pot this evening… Love this little device. The “Trifacta” (as I call it) is the “Instant Pot”, “Air Fryer”, and “Griddler”!
