Bobby didn’t go to school today, but Katie went. He stayed home from school with a runny nose and we fear that something is “coming on”. He managed to navigate the summer, a trip to Victoria, and a much longer trip to Europe, but he couldn’t manage the first two days of class… He filled the morning with Duolingo French, Lego building, and a little multiplication before taking an afternoon nap. By evening he was well enough to practice violin and play with Ethan.

This evening Katie and I went for a long drive. She needed to talk about her first two days of classes and how she was fitting in with her classmates. She read excerpts from her journal. Things are shaping up nicely, and at least the “stress” is less than last year (see photo to the right). If things get too awful there is the option for her to be home schooled, but I told her that what she will probably find is that the stress will diminish day by day and the friends and bonds will strengthen day by day. So much so in fact that when she goes off to College “somewhere” she will long for the “good ole’ days” of Vanier. Life’s like that…
We’re also looking ahead to Sunday, when Shar-Kare will hold a “chicken exchange.” The plan is to pick up four hens for our rooster, Valentine, finally giving him the companions he deserves. He’s been looking rather lonely and lost the last few days, but he did wander out around the garage to eat and drink today. Sure beats sitting in the coop and staring at the corner, which he does sometime. Tonight he is “Combing His Comb” and getting ready to meet the ladies on Sunday. Hopefully they will have some in stock…
On the investment front, I’m gradually selling some (emphasis on “some”) shares of my heavy hitters: NVDA, TSLA, and SHOP, and purchasing these potentially HUGE “up and comers”:
- CoreWeave (CRWV) – an “AI Cloud Infrastructure Company” that NVDA invests in.
- Honeywell (HON) owns Quantinuum, which is also supported by NVDA, and is in the “Trapped-ion quantum systems” space.
- Ionq (IONQ) which many describe as the “NVDA of Quantum Computing”.
- Nebius Group (NBIS) which is in “AI Infrastructure” and is in a partnership with NVDA.
- Navitas Semiconductor (NVTS) provides power semiconductors and NVDA is in a strategic collaboration with them.
- Pure Storage (PSTG) is recommended by Motley Fool.
