I was planning on taking my son’s electric bike to the repair shop this afternoon to get the tire repaired, but there were problems with the van. My wife called me from Huband so we had to adjust plans. She drove the van to the repair shop and I drove over to Huband to pick up Bobby from school. After dropping Bobby off I went to pick up Katie at Vanier at 3:30 pm.
The auto mechanic had to order parts, so the van will be ready tomorrow afternoon. They were nice enough to drive my wife home. The repair should be around $300.

Plans are now to wait for the van to arrive home and I can then take it to the bike repair shop to hopefully get the electric bike rear tire fixed. It’s a bit “iffy” as the tech at Black’s Cycle said that they cannot store electric bikes at the store overnight due to insurance issues, so I will need to bring it in and wait till it’s done. Having said that, they are quite busy now so he suggested bringing it in mid-October. There is also the issue of electric bike tires being smaller and them having the correct tire (see photo to the right). It’s not a big deal, but interesting to note that the cost to repair an electric bike tire with the motor on the rear wheel is $60 as opposed to $15 for regular bikes. I think I will just put it into the van and drive it over tomorrow afternoon and see what happens. If it’s close to closing time he might just do it to get it done… 🙂
I cleaned out the paint sprayer this afternoon so that we can dry it out and set it up for storage before winter comes.
Katie had the first meeting of her Vanier Outreach Group at lunch today. They are being mentored by the Rotary Club, and during the drive home I told her about the Rotary Club (and Lions and Shriners) and what they do for the community and what a great way to make connections and “give back”. She’s excited that one of the girls she met while making posters a few weeks ago with be in this group as well and wanted to hang out with her. She said that they are having a “Carving Pumpkins for Polio” (or something like that) project coming up soon. Looking back, I wished I had joined a group like this when I was in high school.
