Day #5856 – (Sat., Jan. 17, 2026) – Scrapbook For Emma!

I took Katie for a drive this evening. We ended up at Tim Hortons where Katie picked up a chocolate frosted donut to take back home to Bobby. No sprinkles due to the issues with his surgery and teeth. She did a little “jig” for him when she told him about it (see photo to the right).

Katie was stressed out all day so the drive did her good. She tends to have a very overactive mind and can think of all the “worst” scenarios in situations. We came up with a plan in order to proceed:

  1. Get VMUN (Vancouver Model United Nations) out of the way! This happens this weekend. Unlike the Rotary weekend last November, she can just listen and not worry about presenting, so she liked that option.
  2. My wife will be driving the VMUN kids to Nanaimo for the ferry so Katie likes this fact. One less thing to stress out about. She will be able to leave her luggage in the van rather than take it to school with her!
  3. Next week is the last week of school, so get this semester out of the way! Next semester is easier, so surely she can do just one more week.
  4. Once the next semester is done she will have the summer to chill and relax, and this is a great time to look forward to. She will have her license by then and can drive around thrifting and such.

Katie has been particularly stressed about the scrapbook birthday gift that she wants to give to Emma. She doesn’t know how she will find the time to do this. I told her that she should tell Emma that since she is such a great friend she wants to spend extra time on it, and it will be coming a bit later than her birthday. Katie REALLY liked this idea and calmed down almost immediately.

Katie also liked the fact that if she give Emma her scrapbook later on she won’t need to show it to Soulina at the party, and therefore can avoid any “scrapbook” comparisons.
