My wife and I took Katie to the playground for a playdate near the Chapel Hill High School at 10am this morning so that she could meet her future classmates. When all the other parents and children started to arrive at the park Katie was in the swing and sensed that “something was up”. When she got down from the swing she got shy and hung close to my wife. We are not used to that as she is usually the most outgoing and talkative kid at the park. Soon she got into the swing of things and started to run around and enjoy the other kids.
Take a look at the metal pig sculpture (see photo to the left) that was just outside “The Pig” restaurant…just down the road from the playground.
After Katie’s nap this afternoon we went to the Mayflower Restaurant for dinner. I then dropped them off at the playground near the community center and went to Staples and then to Trader Joe’s for groceries.
While at Staples I picked up a permanent laundry marker (to mark Katie’s belongings for play school) and some fastener pins so she can make spinner toys like the one we have in our Twister game. I was looking for a quick route to Trader Joe’s from Staples and found a ballet school nearby. They start accepting kids at 3 years old…
Trader Joe’s was out of the apple juice that we usually get, the one in the big glass jar. This happened once when we were living in Cary. I think we’re going to have to get a dozen of them when they come in…they will last and we can always get a couple more at each trip to Trader Joe’s to ensure that our supply is ample.
