Day #989 (Tue., Sept. 18, 2012) – Chapel Hill “Nature” Drive
The photo to the right shows the “Turtle Class Schedule” that Katie follows when she goes to classes on Monday and Wednesdays.
My wife was sick this afternoon. I didn’t get the message til late but when I arrived home shortly after 5pm she was lying on the couch with Katie hovering around her. Katie seemed more interested in getting a flashlight working than her ailing mother.
It was raining today so I decided that I would take Katie out for a drive this evening so my wife could get some rest. When Katie is home she tends to jump on you if you are lying down so at least the drive will take care of one of my wife’s immediate problems.
I told Katie that we would be going on a “Nature Drive”…in honor of the “Nature Walk” they had yesterday at school. When we passed by some painted cow statues at UNC I told Katie to be sure to tell her mother this when she got home (and she did…as soon as we entered the house…what a memory). We then drove around Chapel Hill and I pointed out various sights and sounds.
I kept mentioning to Katie that tomorrow would be music day at school. I told her that all her friends were sleeping so that they would be well rested to play music with her in class tomorrow. She didn’t seem to take the hint… On the drive back she kept saying “I don’t want to go home” so we would drive around a bit more.
