Day #1900 (Wed., Mar. 18, 2015) – Bye Bye Umbilical Cord

Katie was up at 6:45am this morning. With little Bobby going to bed so late and Katie getting up so early it doesn’t leave mommy and daddy much time for something called sleep. At any rate, it is what it is and parents just adjust.

I was really proud of Katie this morning. At first she left her waffles and sausages on the plate on the LazyBoy and ran off to see little Bobby when he gave off a squeal. Well Batman took advantage of this and stole a sausage. I told Katie to remember to put her dish on the kitchen counter when she was done. Just as we were leaving for school I looked around for her plate. She had already put it on the kitchen counter as she was done eating. Good Job!

I removed the helium “It’s A Boy” balloons from our mailbox this afternoon. It’s been a week since little Bobby was born and we don’t need them any more.

2015-03-18 - The Belly ButtonThis afternoon I spread about 20 shovel full of gravel on our driveway. I wanted to get this in place before the rain comes on Thursday so it will sink into the ground and solidify before the hot summer months.

Little Bobby’s umbilical cord fell off this afternoon. My wife put it on the changing table. I wasn’t quite sure what it was so I threw it in the trash (not that you want to keep it at any rate). You can see his cute little belly button in the photo to the left.

This evening I made liver and onions with mashed potatoes and peas. Comfort food for both my wife and I.

In putting Katie to bed this evening I read her a few snippets from the Art Linkletter’s Children’s Encyclopedia. We then started to play a game where we found something in the book and described it so the other could guess it. Katie had a good one “I’m something flat that you give to the nannies when they leave”. I couldn’t figure it out…it was money. She was looking at a picture of a postage stamp at the time but it sure resembled dollar bills.
