There is one thing I picked up at Trader Joe’s last night that she really likes…processed cheese slices. I call it “Cheese In A Blanket”. Katie had two of them this morning. As I rip open the plastic wrap (i.e.: blanket) I pretend that the cheese wants to go back to bed, not be eaten. This morning Katie asked the cheese “You don’t want me to eat you”? I replied (on behalf of the cheese) “Yes, please eat me…I want to be closer to your heart”.
Katie wanted me to be the “Chocolate Chicken Monster” at Duncan’s birthday today. This is when I pretend that I’m said monster and chase the kids about the house. Both Helen and Gabby like this game…but I don’t think I’ve ever played it with Duncan? At any rate I told Katie that there are usually other games and an agenda to follow at someone else’s birthday party.
Katie has elaborated a bit more on her Halloween plans this year. She will be a butterfly and little Bobby will be a caterpillar. I will be a sunflower (with green pants and shirt) and my wife will be a daffodil.
I took Katie to Duncan’s birthday party at 2pm today. It was held in the community center in Carborro. The theme was “Mermaids” and they even had a cutout that the children could put their face inside (see photo to the left).
Katie and her friends were playing under a table and Katie accidentally stood up and hit her head. It was a loud hit. She made a brave face but was soon crying and resting on daddy’s shoulder. After a good cry she was up and running around again.
