Day #4755 (Thu., Jan. 12, 2023) – Business Logos

Katie is home sick today.  She has a sore neck so I ran out to the drug store to get her some Voltarin cream.  Actually got the “Walgreen’s Knockoff”, which is the same stuff, but cheaper.

I picked up Bobby at 2:40 pm this afternoon, as is my norm.  On the way home we talked a bit about the new fish that they have in their classroom.  He told me that the teacher is going to start assigning chores to the students and that they are taking care of it starting next week.  I mentioned to him that another name for a “Betta” is a “Siamese Fighting Fish”.  He also mentioned to me that he had a chicken nugget salad for lunch today.

As we were driving home we came across a Staples truck.  This brought up the topic of how “Staples” is a good name for this business.  For starters, they sell “Staples”, and secondly, a “Staple” is a necessary item, or as the dictionary states: “used, needed, or enjoyed constantly usually by many individuals”.  This lead to the discussion of the McDonalds logo.  Here’s what I found online:  “The color red is stimulating and is associated with being active. It also increases heart rate, which helps to jumpstart your appetite. The color yellow is associated with happiness and is the most visible color in daylight, so that’s why a McDonald’s logo is so easy to spot on a crowded road.”

We also talked about violin class this afternoon.  I told Bobby that he was going regardless, so rather than complain and get punished, why not make a deal with mom?  Ask her if she will let you watch television after class if you are good?  Turn the circumstance into an opportunity to gain something…

I went to Aldi for groceries this evening.  I thought I would share a photo of how much you can get for $226.64 these days (see photo to the left).  It might be interesting for the kids to look back at this years into the future to see how much “grocery stuff” you can get in the US these days given the current inflation scenario.

Bobby was good in violin class today, so he got to watch a bit of television.  He was quite happy about that… 🙂
