Day #5340 – (Mon., Aug. 19, 2024) – Orchestra Camp

My wife took the kids to Orchestra Camp this morning. It let out at noon. They will be attending all week and will give us a concert on Friday. Katie met Finley, a new friend her age who will be attending Vanier with her. Bobby was bemoaning the fact that there were only girls at the camp his age. The rest were seniors. The seniors already love Katie. I told Bobby to just wait and once he becomes a teen he will love being around all these cute teen girls.

The drywall has now been installed in the garage. Anthony didn’t show up today. He said that he will be back on Thursday or Friday to “tape and mud”. I found a nail just outside the garage this afternoon. We’re going to have to be careful of them till the contractors are gone. This brought back memories of how many times we had flat tires due to the contractors who were putting a new roof on our townhouse in Cary.

After consulting with Maureen, the previous owner, I let the chickens out to roam free from their coop for the first time this afternoon (see photo to the right). When I called for them they came, probably as they associate me with food. I’m going to let them out at irregular intervals just in case eagles are like crocodiles and will remember where to come for a nice quick meal, and when “dinner is served”… Apparently Dave, the previous tenant in the “Barn Suite” took a photo of an eagle trying to fly off with a hen a while back. When Maureen told me this I was thinking, what kind of a person would film something like this and not try to run out and “shoo” the bird away?

My wife and Katie went to get their hair cut this afternoon from a lady who cuts hair in her kitchen. She is literally right beside the farm on Burns Road that we were thinking of buying about a year ago at this time. She is cheaper than most hair stylists and barbers in the area, so I think Bobby and I will be going to her as well.
