Day #5341 – (Tue., Aug. 20, 2024) – Dragon Fruit

My wife took the kids to orchestra camp this morning and brought them home at noon. According to Katie nothing eventful happened. Apparently a lady came up to her and told her about the Courtenay Orchestra and would she be interested in joining. I also learned that the new friend she made at camp, who will be attending Vanier with her, is very shy. Perhaps a substitute for Leah?

I changed the bank account for my Social Security Pension to RBC, so if all goes well, it will be in my Canadian bank account this October. This was the first possible date to do this as I guess they need to do some bookkeeping on their end.

My wife told me that she has learned that they have lost her application for a physical Canadian resident card, so she reapplied again today. I told her that perhaps she should contact our House of Parliament representative to see if we can move this process along quicker.

I went to Thrifty Foods this evening for groceries. I picked up a Dragon Fruit for the kids (see photo to the right). I’m not exactly sure why, but Katie let Bobby have all of it, except for one piece that he gave to dad to try. It was quite delicious. I can see why the kids like them! Along with a Dragon Fruit I picked up two gallons of milk and some salad dressing for my wife.

I told Katie about my new novel idea in which there is a planet where aliens work 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. All they do is work, and all they have to look forward to is retirement, which is total bliss and pleasure. What is this “total bliss and pleasure” you ask? When they retire they come to planet Earth and transform into a dog so that they can live in total ease and luxury. They don’t need to do anything but lie around and get fed and pampered…
