Day #5578 – (Mon., Apr. 14, 2025) – Woodpecker!

When I was letting out the chickens this morning I heard a pecking sound. I looked up in the tree and guess what I saw? A woodpecker (see photo to the left). We will probably have to get someone to look at our trees at some point to make sure that they will not fall down!

I stopped off at Shar-Kare this afternoon and picked up a couple of more bags of “fertilizer + moss control” and a spreader as well. The spreader said “assembled in Canada” and I want to support Canada where I can.

I picked up Bobby after school today. He told me that they are having the kids do sprints and such these days. Perhaps getting ready for a school field day? Bobby went over to Dominic’s house to play after school today.

Katie is doing well in her science class and got “Extending” (meaning excellent) in many areas (see photo to the right).

I picked up Katie after school today as well. On the drive home she told me that she is fitting in more with her classmates. She mentioned that they like to hang around people like her that are “not needy”. One friend has started to call her “Kraft Dinner” as this is the nickname her mother has.

Speaking off “Kraft Dinner”, it’s mac & cheese and is pretty well a staple in Canadian homes. Our kids don’t really like it as much as Canadian kids do. My wife buys macaroni in bulk and then adds shredded cheese to the mix. Katie likes this much better than Bobby, but he sometimes eats it too.

Our neighbor Gale called as gave us the name of the gate company that her neighbor used. “Garage Door Depot”, which is across the street from Katie’s school. Robert also told me that he picked up his driveway gravel at Black Rock Landscaping. We need to get some more for the area around the “Barn Suite”.
