The apple tree outside the main house has started to bear bright red fruit (see photo to the right). Still kinda tart tasting, but getting there.
I’m in the process of charging up the RC boat that Bobby picked up in Victoria. We didn’t get a chance to try it out in Victoria, but there are plenty of lakes and streams here in Courtenay for it’s maiden voyage. I plan to take him out this week sometime. We might see a movie as well.
This evening, Katie and I resumed our local driving regime. We ended up at Starbucks — she got a Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino and I picked up a Cafe Mocha. Over our drinks, she told me she’s worried the videos she’s been uploading for her channel aren’t good enough. I told her she should just keep putting them out there, to build views and subscribers. I went on to mention that if she still doesn’t like them at some point she can always delete them or remake them once she’s got a fancier camera. She really liked this idea, so she’s off and running again…
Katie and I also started brainstorming business ideas together. With Halloween coming, I suggested she could sell “bat stickers” or even make “Bat Bath Balms” — little bath bombs with wings sticking out of them. She loved the idea, and doing this with Anika and Madeline, and for a moment I could see her eyes light up with possibility. It felt good to pass on not just encouragement, but the spark of creativity and entrepreneurship.
I let our rooster, Valentine, out of the coop for a stretch later this afternoon. He usually sticks close to home, around the garage, but for some reason tonight he didn’t return. Maybe he’s lonely, wandering next door to visit the hens? They have always come back before at some point, so I trust he’ll strut in by morning.
