Day #5709 – (Sat., Aug. 23, 2025) – Comox Valley Exhibition

My wife took Bobby to the Comox Valley Exhibition this morning. Katie was still asleep. He got a chance to try out their version of the “Helicopter Ride”, which was similar to the ones that we had in Truro back in the 1970s (see photo to the left).

In the Comox Valley Art Gallery, across the street from the Vancouver Island Regional Library on 6th street in Courtenay, once a week, kids get together to work on Legos. The teacher said that they are an awesome group of kids, but it’s for kids who are in grade 8+, so Bobby is too young. Bobby is going into the 5th grade next week, so we have three years left before he can participate. At the exhibition they had a model building of the gallery, and Bobby made some art (see photo to the right), and hung it in this model. He found out what he needed to do and participated without input or prompting from my wife.

Katie received her new school schedule today. She will taking French as an elective for the first semester and Guitar II for the second semester.

I picked up some extra cord for our Ryobi “weed wacker” at Home Depot this evening. I need to locate the wrench that will secure it in place. If not, a pair of vice grips will do the job.

Lots of exciting things are happing in the stock market these days. The Fed is “hinting” that they are going to ease interest rates, which means midcap stocks will explode to the upside. NVDA reports earnings this Wednesday after the closing bell, and people are predicting another blowout quarter… Now to find time to do the research and determine the “next blowout” stock… People are talking about “Quantum Computing” as being the next big thing…
