Today is “BC Day”, so my wife is off work. Here’s a bit of a description: “BC Day, officially known as British Columbia Day, is celebrated on the first Monday of August each year. It is a provincial holiday that recognizes the history, culture, and people of British Columbia. Many communities mark the occasion with parades, festivals, concerts, outdoor activities, and family gatherings, while residents take advantage of the long weekend to enjoy the province’s parks, beaches, lakes, and mountains. It is a day to celebrate what makes British Columbia unique and to appreciate its natural beauty and diverse communities.“
I took Katie to the Real Canadian Superstore this afternoon to pick up some supplies to make cinnamon rolls. We also picked up one of the Pillsbury “tubes” of cinnamon rolls where you just separate them and bake them. On the way out we saw some cinnamon rolls in the bread section and I was joking with Katie we could pick some of these up and get cinnamon rolls in various stages of “construction”, but we didn’t… 🙂
While at the Real Canadian Superstore we picked up a huge family size of lasagna, milk (of course), shredded cheese, and frozen hamburgers. Of course they didn’t have a tray of tacos, since they haven’t had any for months now. Not sure what that’s all about.
This evening Bobby said that he was willing to do some mowing, so rather than let this opportunity pass we put him to work on the front lawn (see photo to the right).
Stocks are up today and Katie’s college fund has ballooned to about $150,000 Cdn. Katie did a bit of investigation and says that this will completely pay for her tuition at UBC.
There was some scurrying about last night in the walls of the “Barn Suite”, so I set a couple of the electronic rat traps near the chicken coop. My wife said that she saw a rat in this area not too long ago.
