I dropped Katie off at school this morning but her mother picked her up this afternoon to take her to “The Foundry”. ChatGPT says: “Foundry Comox Valley is a free, confidential youth health and wellness centre at 575 10th Street in Courtenay for young people ages 12–24. Operated by the John Howard Society of North Island as part of the provincial Foundry network, it brings many services together in one approachable location, including counselling, doctors and nurses, mental-health and substance-use support, sexual health care, peer support, employment and education assistance, housing help, social groups and support for families and caregivers. Young people don’t need to be experiencing a crisis to use Foundry; it’s designed as an accessible place to get help, meet people, participate in programs or simply talk with someone who can connect them with the right support.”
The doctor that Katie saw understood her situation immediately and plans to try out various meds to see what would best work for her. Katie is over the moon to have a doctor who understands and is supportive of her.

Bobby was riding home from Huband Elementary this afternoon and fell over his handlebars and hurt his leg (see photo to the right). I have an appointment with Dr. Lawley tomorrow morning, so we are planning on taking Bobby along to see what he thinks.
This evening Katie and I went for a drive. She wanted some advice on how to deal with Zoey, a friend from school. We ended up at Tim Horton’s on Guthrie where we picked up a hot chocolate for Katie and a black coffee for me, effectively making this Daddy/Daughter Chat #52. Zoey has been very critical of the CVEMUN website that Katie has been working on. I told Katie that since Zoey is an extrovert, and is a big jealous of her positing in MUN, she probably doesn’t realize how her words are affecting you. I suggested that in this, as is usually the best approach in life anyway, is to not get mired in the details. Take the high road, be the “Cream of the Crop”, and rise above the rest.
Oh, and I also offered the suggestion to mention this situation to ChatGPT and ask what Dolly Parton (one of her idols) would do in a situation like this. If she does what Dolly would, she will eventually become more and more like Dolly each and every day.
