Day #636 (Sat., Oct 1, 2011) – Medicine Ball Bounce

My wife is off to a consignment sale so I’m taking care of Katie this morning. She had two cups of milk and one cup of juice, some mushrooms with corn and cheese…a little play…then off to bed.

The photo to the left shows a new card game that my wife picked up at the consignment sale. It is called “Meet My Mommy” and is a series of cards in which you have a picture of a mother animal and a baby animal. You match up the mother with the child. We’re going to save this one for when Katie gets a bit older.

I’m always trying to figure out inventive things to do with her, so I let her bounce up and down on our medicine ball. I would put her on it in the sitting position and hold her while she bounced up and down. This child sure loves to bounce.

Another thing I did with Katie before she went off to bed was draw her a picture of a trumpet. As soon as she saw it she said “trumpet”. I was shocked as I didn’t realize that she knew was it was.

Our old babysitter Christina came to work today. She is coming on Saturdays and Sundays til my wife finishes her PhD. She took Katie out for a stroll this afternoon.

This evening we watched various videos like “The Shape Train”, “The Color Train” and “The Number Train”. They teach young children how to recognize various shapes, colors and numbers.

Remember the farm puzzle that I wrote about back in early 2011? Back then Katie didn’t have the ability or dexterity to put the various pieces into the puzzle. Well, she did it this evening…all by herself!

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
——————————-
1) Katie was able to put the farm puzzle together without any assistance this evening.
