Day #2998 (Thu., Mar. 22, 2018) – Lifesavers Rolls

I drove both Katie and Helen to Glenwood this morning. If I do have surgery on my other knee, Susan, Helen’s mom will return the favor. Today was “Dress Up As Your Favorite Sports Team” day. Katie wore Carolina blue of course.

Murren’s mother responded to my wife’s email this morning.

2018-03-22 - LifesaversGood morning, Laura. Thank you so much for telling me this. I absolutely want other parents to let me know if Murren is acting unkindly towards others. I spoke with Murren quite a bit about this last night. In our conversations, she took responsibility for her behavior and recognized how what she was doing might make Katie feel. We have an action plan in our family for when she sees others acting unkindly. The action plan is “Tend. Defend. Befriend.” She came up with a plan to make the situation better today. She plans to let Sophie know that she does not want to participate in this behavior anymore and she will apologize to Katie and include Katie in games at recess. Would you mind asking Katie how it goes today? It is important to me that Murren makes the situation right. Please do let me know. In speaking with Murren I realized how kids are still learning how to treat others and manage relationships at this age. It’s important that we know what is happening so that we can guide them.
Yes, it feels amazing to be done! I do have one offer in Washington DC and I’m doing some interviews for jobs down here. I really hope that our family can stay here. It will depend on whether I can find a good job. So, we are definitely in a new era our house! I will keep you posted! Thank you for your support!

On the way home from work this evening I stopped off at the gas station to see if I could find some Lifesavers rolls, the way that they used to package them when I was a kid. Success (see photo to the left). I gave them to the kids this evening as a “Special Present”. Katie picked out one Lifesaver at a time and of course, Bobby ripped the end off and stuck his mouth onto the roll.

My wife told me that she was looking for Bobby today. The door to the bedroom was locked, so she kept looking around the house. When she went back and opened the door Bobby was sitting on the bed, with the television on, complaining that he could not find “PJ Masks”. So, he opened up the locked door, managed to turn on the television, and Netflix, and could not locate “PJ Masks”. Is this kid unstoppable?
