We we up packing the van early. Had more “stuff” than we initially anticipated, but we made it work. Meredith, our neighbor, came by to wish us off (see photo to the left). As we were driving out of the driveway we saw our neighbor Brian driving to the entrance. He probably was told there was “free stuff” he could have at our location.
Net up, Panera Bread. I was only going to get a black coffee, but Katie wanted something to drink, then Bobby wanted whatever she was having, and my wife wanted a sandwich, so it turned out to be quite an order. After that we stopped off at Arnesa’s house so that my wife could give her a bank card.

Shortly after 11 am we were on the road to Courtenay, and we didn’t stop till “Love’s” Truck Stop (see photo to the right) just after the Virginia border. My wife got to walk our dog, and I stayed in the van with our “heavily sedated” cat. The kids each got a McDonald’s double cheeseburger meal to go as we headed for the West Virginia border. Katie is taking lots of photos and videos and hopes to make a little record of our trip.
Next up was the Lowe’s in West Virginia for a bathroom break. A lot cleaner than the bathroom at “Love’s” Truck Stop in Virginia where I actually saw a guy wash his feet in the sink! We gassed up at a gas station near Lowe’s, I picked up my “4 Lottery Tickets” and we were off again!

I drove the family down McCorkle Avenue to show them where I used to live, and work. They wanted to see the “gold dome” on the State Capital Building, so we drove downtown, and then we exited the city on our way to our new accommodation at:. Nice little place (see photo to the left). They have a Keurig coffee machine, which will be nice tomorrow morning! Katie and our cat will be staying in one of the rooms that has it’s own bathroom. Incidentally, the second photo is the view from the kitchen window in the early morning hours… The fog made the street lights look like balloons… 🙂
My wife and I went to “Sheetz” down the road and ordered quite a variety of food to take home. This is our “Wedding Anniversary Feast” I guess you could say… 🙂 Two hot dogs for Bobby, a turkey sub for Katie, taco salads for my wife and I, and a couple cupcakes and donut bits for dessert. I also decided to get a beer.

We will be “sedating” our cat for the trip, so he spent quite a bit of time out of his crate on my wife and Katie’s lap today (see photo to the right). He’s in a “stupor” and is not sure where he is, and I think since he’s not frantic to get away from our dog, she is calmer as well. Our dog has a nice little sleep area at the very back of the van, but puts her nose between the back seats where Katie and Bobby sit so that she can keep a watchful eye on our “drugged” cat.
The Florida Panthers beat the Boston Bruins and eliminated them in NHL Stanley Cup Playoff action this evening. I watched the tail end of the game on the big screen at our Air B&B.
