Day #5753 – (Mon., Oct. 6, 2025) – Rotary Youth Leadership Experience

Doesn’t Batman look stressed these days? (See photo to the right)!

Puralator showed up around 9 am this morning with my computer for my music studio, but nobody was at home to sign for it, so they are going to take it to Best Buy to pick up either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Bobby wasn’t feeling too well this morning, but he went to school anyway. Around noon he called his mother, who went to pick him up, and he slept this afternoon. I asked him when he woke up about it and he said that he usually gets sick in the stomach. I used to have motion sickness in cars when I was younger, but don’t remember having so many stomach aches away from the car.

I stopped off at Waypoint Insurance this afternoon to renew our policy. Since we drove under 15,000 km on the Camry this year, and no accidents, they gave us a $200 discount, so the policy came to $991 for the year.

This “Model UN” club that Katie is joining is a bit of a “secret society”. Apparently the teacher doesn’t want everyone knowing about it because it includes a free trip to Vancouver later in the year. He wants only serious students to be in it.

We’re so very proud of Katie as she signed up for a 3-day Rotary Youth Leadership experience for Nov. 14-16 at the Cowichan Lake Outdoor Center. I’m telling her that most Rotary’s are older, and are concerned that young people are not joining. Then Katie shows up? They will LOVE her. This is her chance to have the large extended family that she has wanted… Here’s a bit more info:

Each year, thousands of young people take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program worldwide. Young people are chosen for their leadership potential. Rotary clubs and districts select participants and facilitate the event’s curriculum.

RYLA is a valuable experience that looks good for college because it demonstrates commitment, time management, communication, and leadership skills that college admissions officers value. Participation in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) shows your potential for leadership and highlights your involvement in extracurricular activities, which can strengthen your application.
