Bobby made his lunch for school today: Banana, yogurt, and seaweed. He said he had to take Maple out about four times this morning as she wouldn’t stop barking.

I stopped off at Shar-Kare and picked up some “layer” feed for the chickens after dropping Katie off at Vanier. I got to see their two black cats as they were outside relaxing in the sun!
Katie went to her Interact/Rotary meeting and it looks like nobody is interested in the leadership role that she is applying for, which means there is a good chance she will get it.
Bobby went to Raheem’s house after school so he was home 30 minutes later than usual.
This evening the kids played Uno out on the patio as the weather was so nice (see photo to the left). Later in the evening Bobby was complaining that school is so easy and boring and that he is not learning anything.
My wife came back from Duncan this evening. The latest news? There might be a nursing strike next week! If so, she will be working 60 hours a weekday In Campbell River, doing Housekeeping/Laundry!!! She’s trying to get assigned to Courtenay hospital, but we’re not sure… They will not pay for her gas as the distance from home is too short, but she will get paid at her current rate, which is most likely a double or triple what housekeeping personnel are paid. And at 60 hours/week, this adds up.
More strike details? The BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) is holding a province-wide strike vote from May 8–11, 2026, after contract negotiations reached an impasse with the Health Employers Association. Key disputes include reduced benefits, workplace violence, and staffing shortages.
