Day #737 (Tue., Jan. 10, 2012) – Dance Class #2
My wife had a phone conference this morning so I took Katie to her dance class by myself. She behaved herself pretty good…although getting her to follow instructions is always a challenge…
The dance class started off with Miss Judy taking attendance. When she called out Katie’s name I helped her raise her hand. Much of today’s class was like last weeks. There was a lot of running around in a circle (see photo to the left), following the leader with variants (dancing backwards, jumping like a frog, etc.) Like last week Miss Judy brought out some musical instruments and teddies for the kiddies. The kids were to wait their turn (not Katie’s strong suit) and then pick up only one toy for themselves and one toy for their parent (equally not her strong suit). A bit different with this class was that Miss Judy brought out a box of scarves to dance with.
I learned from Miss Judy that there were two rules in the class (amongst others). Children were not to touch other children. She told me that she added this rule as kids were forgetting how big they were in comparison to other kids and what was to them very gentle touching was not to the other kids. Also, no touching the glass mirrors (for obvious reasons).
When the class ends Miss Judy gives every kid a sticker. They are to put their hand on their head so that she can place the sticker there. Today Miss Judy had one of the kids assist her. Miss Judy asked Katie to curtsey but Katie didn’t understand her…oh well, a sticker anyway.
I then bundled up Katie, wiped her hands with a sanitizing wipe, and took her home.
This afternoon I sanded the edges of the baby doll crib while my wife took Katie out for a walk around the neighborhood. It’s coming along…but not as quickly as I would like.
